INITIATIVE: SAVE OUR SCHOOL BUDGET!

Here's a fun game for this snow day, it's called:

"Where Will They Cut $2.5million From Fairfield Public Schools Next Year?"

If you moved to Fairfield for the public schools or if you have lived here for generations and you utilize the public schools, you will most definitely want to pay attention to the current budget proposals happening in our town literally RIGHT NOW.

The Board of Education has submitted their proposed operating budget for the upcoming school year and it passed unanimously amongst our BOE members - you know, the people we elected to do this exact job... You can review the entire budget propsal here:

Now...

Let's see how their proposed operating budget of $202, 491, 554 compares to the budget our First Selectwoman has allotted toward the Fairfield Public Schools. Here is her proposed budget for our schools (Even though the directory will lead you to page 223 - make sure to scroll to the next page, 224 to actually see the one line budget they entered for our schools)

https://www.fairfieldct.org/filestorage/10726/11032/12630/12632/116557/First_Selectwoman_Proposed_Budget.pdf

So let's compare these budgets:

$202,491,554 vs $199,991,554 is a big discrepancy...

it's a $2.5Million discrepancy to be exact...

Which brings us back to the original question...

Where do you think they expect us to cut $2.5million in the schools?

Here's the good news - The following is an actionable step you can take today to help our students, teachers, and families who utilize and rely on the Fairfield Public School System.

BONUS: Stay tuned to receive info for the Public Budget Comment Session which is currently scheduled for the end of March. THIS will be your chance to speak out in person on this issue.
